Welcome!

Greetings fellow Biologists,

The Illinois Association of Community College Biologists cordially invites you to attend our 48th Annual Conference on November 11 & 12, 2022. It will be held once again at the Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center located on the grounds of beautiful Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby, IL. The State Park is a National Historic Landmark, and the Lodge is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places as well as being voted the best in the Midwest for meetings.

This year we offer an exciting line-up of speakers on topics such as the upper limits to human longevity, citizen science, the economic and environmental benefits of pennycress as a cover crop, enkephalin amplifiers as non-addictive pain drugs, bacterial life-cycle coordination, and individual variation in threespined sticklebacks. We will have a walking tour at both the beginning and end of the conference.

Find the 2022 registration form here. The conference registration fee is tiered, with adjunct faculty members, graduate students, and lab technicians paying a reduced rate. It is our goal to attract a wide variety of participants. Please register by Friday, Nov. 4 to avoid a late fee and to ensure inclusion of your contact information in the conference program.

A block of rooms has been reserved by IACCB in the rustic Starved Rock Lodge; please book by Tuesday, October 11 to claim a room in the block. There are also several hotels in the area, and we hope wherever you choose to stay we can enjoy socializing on Friday night at the Back Door Lounge which will have free live music.

As in past years, we ask that you kindly donate an item to the Scholarship Raffle, where all proceeds go to support student scholarships. We are proud to have given away over $14,000 in scholarships since 2006.

At this year's conference, we need to fill the position of President for the next two-year term. Please contact us if your are interested in volunteering, to nominate a colleague, or for further information. The current Board members have years of experience and are willing to mentor the new officer.

Thank you in advance for your participation and we look forward to seeing you in November!

Respectfully,

Ann Marie Renfree, Moraine Valley Community College
IACCB President for 2022
